Dear Mr. Welch,

On behalf of the HI Club of Casta del Sol, Mission Viejo, CA, I want to thank you for your fine presentation on Wed. February 4, 1998, showing how service dogs are trained to help disabled people, especially the hearing impaired. We enjoyed watching an actual demonstration of a service dog at work, and it was fascinating learning how dogs can be trained to alert hard of hearing people to respond to sounds around them at home, work, travel, and in the community.

Because the vice-president of our hearing loss support group presently has a dog in training with you, it made the program even more meaningful. The members of Casta del Sol SHWH are all hearing impaired seniors, and many need help hearing the telephone, doorbell, traffic sounds, and other alarms to enable us to live safer and more secure lives. "Hearing dogs" can be a good way to assist us as well as become devoted companions in our later years.

We hope your demonstration will cause more hearing-impaired people to consider having their dogs trained in this special way.

Sincerely,
Priscilla K. Worcester
President
